AlphaBio’s success is underpinned by a united team of enthusiastic, driven professionals who have helped shape the company vision and are bringing sustainable biocontrol products to market, with the objective of changing agriculture for the better.
Iain previously worked in private equity investment, with a focus on large scale agricultural businesses from diverse geographies. Through this work, he developed an awareness of the impact contemporary production systems have on soil, water quality and insect life. This built an understanding about the pressing importance of developing more sustainable ways of producing high quality crops, without negatively impacting the natural environment. Under Iain’s leadership, AlphaBio has maintained strong principles, which remain core to the company’s ethos. Iain believes in creating products with a scientific base, supporting every claim and statement with robust data and ensuring the correct regulatory approval processes are followed diligently.
Alfeo is an agricultural scientist who completed his formative training at the University of Bologna, with which he retains a research and development connection. His career has seen him involved in the manufacture of a broad range of significant agricultural technologies in Europe, Africa and the US for multinational organisations, such as Monsanto, Mycogen and Agrigenetics. For the past 30 years, Alfeo’s focus has been on the natural world as the source of future technologies. From working with colleagues at various academic institutes, he has developed technologies that involve natural chemistry, microbiology and hybrid technology.
Stella has a degree in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Bologna in Italy and has over 25 years of experience in conventional crop protection, mainly in fungicides, herbicides, fumigants and fertilizers. Her first experiences were in residue laboratory analysis and quality control analysis, and then as a sales manager in Europe and the Middle East.
For the last 20 years she has been working in regulatory affairs, starting with the development of a new herbicide, and the preparation and submission of the dossier in the most important countries in the world, and then moved to manage other crop protection and fertilizer projects.
Stella has a global perspective, and a strategic vision to the business, analysing strong and weak aspects of any project from a registration point of view, making her an excellent addition to the AlphaBio team.
Ros has been working with AlphaBio since April 2022, and brings to the company the expertise she has gained from 15 years as a Business Manager. As a company administrator, she supports the Regulatory, Marketing, Corporate Affairs, and Office Management teams. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, sampling Suffolk eateries, and country walks in an attempt to tire out her cairn terrier.
Catherine started working with AlphaBio in 2021. She holds an MSC in Agronomy and Sustainable Crop Production from the University of Warwick and is BASIS qualified. With commercial experience at Bayer CropScience, Catherine has worked on research for biological controls, as well as political and regulatory advice on combinable crops and seeds to help companies navigate developing UK and EU legislation.
With an MSc in Agricultural Sciences, Alberto has worked in the agricultural industry since 1986. His early career was spent providing technical assistance to farmers through experimental test site facilities and efficacy field trail management. His career also found him working in global product management, product marketing, brand strategy and product development. Alberto has been working with AlphaBio since March 2021 as the Product Portfolio Development Lead, bringing with him a wealth of experience in crop protection.
Sally’s professional life has included working in media and journalism in the US and in Europe and, in a complete change of direction, it has also included managing the Info Tech and security risk compliance team for British Telecom across the UK. She joined AlphaBio in August 2014, since when, as the company’s first employee she has helped in all areas of the company’s development. Now as the company’s senior statesperson, she is the linchpin that ensures the smooth daily functioning of the company as well as managing all corporate governance, HR and IT security matters.
Evelyne has worked in scientific regulatory affairs for more than 20 years, starting at the European Crop Protection Association in 1999. Since then, she has dealt with almost every aspect in crop protection, starting with supply chain (packaging and labelling), environmental safety, residues (consumer safety) and product stewardship. More recently, she has been dealing extensively with the placing of biostimulants on the market in Europe. Evelyne is passionate about nature and plants and committed to responsible farming, which makes her the perfect fit with AlphaBio’s philosophy.
Susie started working with AlphaBio in May 2019. Her previous experience in advertising and marketing administration in the London advertising industry and more recently in the education sector in Suffolk has brought valuable specialised administrative skills to the company. Her focus initial focus has been on obtaining organic accreditation for the company’s products in all relevant global geographies. She has also been providing administrative support to the companies Southern and Central EU marketing teams.
Paula has recently joined the company and relocated to Suffolk, having previously worked as Head of Customer Relations of a retail medical equipment company in Essex. With ten years’ experience of process management and strategic planning, Paula is working in the Regulatory Science & Affairs team providing administrative support and helping to ensure our products achieve full regulatory approval around the world. As a serious flower grower, Paula is interested in non-chemical control of pests and diseases, making her a great addition to the AlphaBio team.
Clare is a FCCA Qualified Accountant with a BA(Hons) in Accountancy. She has previous experience as Finance Director within a pioneering R&D company, which was part of a publicly listed multinational group, giving her experience with the demands of both managing innovative organic growth and providing timely, accurate financial reporting on a multinational basis.
A Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, Julian has worked in plant science and food production for over 35 years. With a background in plant biochemistry, he has worked for a number of companies in research, project management and latterly in communication, public affairs and change management. He is passionate about science communication and believes that productive farming must go hand-in-hand with promoting biodiversity. This makes him the perfect fit to lead corporate, media and marketing communications in a progressive R&D company like AlphaBio.
With a MSc in Agriculture and a PhD in Integrated Pest Management, Antonio started his career in the agriculture industry in 1988 as a field trialist. He has held different positions during his professional career including Technical and Product Development Manager, Development and R&D Head, as well as Technical Support Manager, all of them with local, regional and global responsibilities. He has led a variety of crop protection projects using different technologies, covering classical chemistry, biologicals and biostimulants. Antonio joined AlphaBio in February 2023.
Guido is an Agronomist who has worked in crop protection since graduating with a PhD in Ecology of Agriculture. During his career he has worked for Pioneer Hi-Bred Italia, Monsanto Agricoltura Italia and EuroChem Agro, with roles in agronomy, new technology, and product and crop management. He has also assisted marketing teams, providing technical advice in developing and coordinating projects on soil fertility, precision farming, weather forecasting and mycotoxin contamination. He has published scientific papers on agriculture, new technology, crop protection and product risk assessment.
Marta has 16 years’ experience working with multinational crop protection and bio-stimulant companies in the Mediterranean. Her areas of specialisation are vines, fruit and vegetables. During her career she has worked with a range of technologies, but for the last few years her focus has been on biological crop protection solutions and plant nutrition. Marta has been working to achieve the equilibrium of producing high-quality crops, with no negative impact on the natural environment. With a degree in Agricultural Sciences and Plant Breeding from the Universitat Politècnica Valencia and Università Cattolica Sacre Cuore, Marta has also completed post-degree studies in Strategic Marketing Management. She has coordinated numerous R&D projects and has published a number of scientific papers on crop protection.
Daniela has a degree in accounting and a wealth of administrative management experience, which she uses to provide administrative support to Alfeo’s research and development work. She is also responsible for arranging transport of manufactured goods from our production plant to the various distribution centres around Europe and for the shipment of test samples around the world to support the company’s annual product development programme.
With over eighteen years’ experience working for DHL’s UK and International Distribution, Natalie joined AlphaBio in November 2019. Her extensive knowledge of logistics has been the perfect basis to help her prepare the company’s supply chain systems so that they are ready to meet the challenges of the next stages of the company’s growth.
